FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Got questions? You're probably not the only one.
Whether you're trying to figure out where to start, wondering how my approach to budgeting works, or deciding if you want some help — I've got you.
ABOUT MY APPROACH
First, let's talk about the money stuff.
What is the GAME Plan Method?
The GAME Plan is my four-step approach to budgeting: Gather, Assess, Make the Plan, and Execute & Evaluate. Instead of jumping straight into making a budget, you first get the full picture of your money, figure out what's actually happening, build a plan for your real life, and then keep working and adjusting that plan as life changes.
Do I have to be good with money before I start?
Absolutely not. You don't need to have everything organized, know all the budgeting terms, or already be tracking every penny. We start with where you are and work from there.
Is this one of those super strict budgets where I can't spend money on anything fun?
Nope. I believe fun belongs in the budget. The goal isn't to make you afraid to spend money. It's to help you know what your money needs to do so you can make spending decisions without constantly wondering if you're messing everything up.
What if I've tried budgeting before and never stick with it?
Then you're in good company. Making a budget is only one part of budgeting. The GAME Plan also includes actually working the plan, looking at what happened, and adjusting when real life doesn't go exactly the way you expected. Messing up doesn't mean you failed. It means it's time to look at the plan and make the next play.
Do I have to track my spending?
Tracking is an important part of the Gather step because it's hard to make good decisions when you're guessing about where your money is going. That doesn't mean you have to obsess over your money all day. The goal is to build a simple habit of looking at what's actually happening so you can make your plan from real numbers.
WHERE DO I START?
You don't have to figure out the whole thing today.
I have no idea where our money is going. What should I start with?
Start with the free Where Did My Money Go? worksheet. Before you try to fix anything, it helps you start looking at what's actually happening with the money you already have.
I need help actually making a budget. What should I use?
The GAME Plan Budget Planner is the guided DIY option. It walks you through the full GAME Plan Method so you can learn how to build and work a budget that fits your life.
I already know how to budget. I just need a better way to keep up with it.
That's what The Money Lineup is for. It's the spreadsheet where you can track transactions, compare your projected numbers to what actually happened, and keep your money plan in one place.
What is Money Open Gym?
Money Open Gym is a free 1-hour live session held once a month. Bring your budget, transactions, bills, or whatever money task you've been putting off. Most of the hour is working time, and you can ask questions if you get stuck.
What if I still don't know which option is right for me?
That's exactly why I created the Start Here page. Pick the situation that sounds most like where you are right now, and I'll point you toward the next play that makes the most sense.
WORKING WITH ME
What if you want more personal help?
What's the difference between the Money Play Call, 90-Day Season, and All-Star Mentorship?
The Money Play Call is one focused hour for one specific money problem. The 90-Day Season gives you three months of personal support while you build and work your GAME Plan. All-Star Mentorship gives you six months together with additional accountability check-ins between your strategy calls.
Which 1:1 option should I start with?
For most people who want ongoing personal help, the 90-Day Season is the best place to start. It gives us enough time to look at your full financial picture, build your plan, work it in real life, and make adjustments together.
Are you going to tell me what I can and can't spend money on?
No. It's your money and your life. My job is to help you understand your numbers, see your options, and make a plan you feel good about working. You stay in the driver's seat.
Will you make my budget for me?
We'll work with your actual numbers and build the plan together, but the goal isn't for you to need me to manage your money forever. I want you to understand your own plan and become confident making money decisions for yourself.
Do I need to have everything organized before we work together?
Nope. Please don't wait until everything looks perfect to ask for help. We'll figure out what we need and start with what you have.
STILL WONDERING WHERE TO BEGIN?
You don't need to know the whole GAME Plan. You just need your next play.
Tell me where you are with your money right now, and I'll help point you toward the place that makes the most sense to start.
